About Stafford Family Care

 

Stafford Family Care was originally established September, 2018 as Nurse Debi's Health & Wellness. Nurse Debi had worked in the insurance sector of primary care and was disillutioned with insurance companies dictating care, and patients still couldn't afford healthcare. Nurse Debi was determined to be a part of the solution. 

​

We have grown to include two full-time family nurse practitioners and one part-time psychiatric nurse practitioner. We can provide a full range of primary care needs from routine sports/school physicals, well-baby and child exams, yearly adult physicals, pap tests, DOT exams, medication management, and advanced laboratory testing. We also can provide PANS/PANDAS care, autism biomedical support, hormone testing/correction, and orders for radiololgy testing such as MRIs and X-rays, and can provide referrals to specialists as needed.

Whitaker Michael Smith, MD

​

Dr. Whitaker Michael Smith is a board-certified family physician with 27 years of practice experience. He attended the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and attained his M.D. degree in 1988. He completed the University of Kentucky Family Medicine Residency in 1991 where he served as chief resident. He practiced in Flemingsburg, Kentucky from 1991 until 1999, at which time he relocated to Kingsport, Tennessee where he practiced until 2016. He now resides in Seymour, Tennessee and is a full-time urgent care physician. He and his wife Lauren enjoy motorcycling and boating.

Nurse Debi's Health and Wellness is honored to have Dr. Smith as our medical director.

Debi Stafford MSN, FNP-C

​

Debi graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2010 from South College in Knoxville, TN. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri in 2017. She is credentialed by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She is certified by the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration as a medical examiner for Department of Transportation. She has attended multiple Medical Academy of Pediatric Special Needs and treats autism with a biomedical base. She also treats PANDAS, PANS, in addition to routine family care. She is married with 3 daughters and brings our clinic dog, Bella, to work. In her spare time she likes to draw, paint, garden, and spend time with her family.

Glen Stafford, Vice President of Operations

​

Glen graduated with his Bachelor of Arts from Johnson State University in Vermont in 1992 and earned an associates of science in computer technology in 2014. He has worked in management for over 2 decades. He has studied martial arts for over twenty years and is a black belt in taekwondo. Glen is married to Nurse Debi and in his spare time enjoys marksmanship, gaming, and spending time with his family both in Tennessee and Vermont.

Bella, AKC-GR

​

Bella is an AKC-registered golden retriever. She was a gift to Nurse Debi on May 5, 2019 after the loss of her beloved Lollipop. Bella has completed advanced training through Pet Smart. It is her job to comfort patients as needed during visits. When she isn't loving on people, she enjoys chasing tennis balls and keeping her kitty in line around the house.
